Storing embellished pieces
Hanging, folding, muslin, and the one thing that ruins sequins faster than anything else.
Weight is what destroys an embellished piece in storage. Hung on a thin hanger, a heavily worked shoulder will stretch out of shape within a season.
Fold instead, with acid-free tissue at each crease, and store flat in muslin. Muslin breathes; a plastic garment bag does not, and trapped humidity tarnishes metallic thread.
Keep it dark. Sunlight is the fastest way to dull sequins and fade dye, and a wardrobe with a window is not a neutral place to leave something for six months.
